YMR has all the modern equipment to recycle today’s scrap metal. From bare bright copper to Steel and Iron, we have worked hard to ensure our business has the suitable facilities to collect, recycle and repurpose your scrap metal.
Most scrap metals can be recycled more than once, depending on the type of metal and whether it has been contaminated.
If you’re in possession of any of the following types of scrap metal and need it taken off your hands then take a look at how our scrap metal recycling service works or contact Yorkshire Metal Recycling.
There are two types of scrap metal:
Both can be recycled multiple times without losing their quality or useability. The difference between ferrous and non ferrous metal can impact recyclability, but not by much.
Copper is one of the most valuable scrap metals because it has a limitless recyclable life, and has a vast number of uses. Its soft texture makes it malleable, easy to melt and the different grades of scrap copper are highly valuable for varying purposes.
Stainless steel has an endless lifecycle and is considered a vital non ferrous metal within construction and manufacturing. Although it is resistant to high temperatures, it can be recycled easily and plenty of times over.
Aluminium is most commonly used to make cans and is fully recyclable. As long as it has been cleaned properly after use, this non ferrous metal can be recycled multiple times and reused for a wide variety of purposes.
Brass can be recycled as many times as required. It is highly valuable to recycling centres because it is used for many household items including fittings and sculptures.
It is often thought that lead isn’t recyclable because of the items it is used to make, but it can be recycled multiple times depending on its purity. Lead is easily melted and found in batteries which can be recycled - it is important to know how to safely dispose of batteries at a recycling plant.
Whilst each metal can be recycled multiple or an endless number of times, the purity of the metal can impact this. For example, non-stick coated pans, cans which previously contained a chemical substance and items that are or have made contact with mercury cannot be recycled.
At Yorkshire Metal Recycling, we may be able to take these items from you to ensure they are safely disposed of. Please contact us for more information.
We’d love to hear from you.
Just choose the most convenient method and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
